PRESS RELEASE: Brussels, 19 January 2010
From 16-19 June 2010 the 15th World Congress of Inclusion International will take place in Berlin! The congress will be held under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Horst Köhler.
The World Congress of Inclusion International provides a unique social platform for people with intellectual disabilities, their families, service providers and decision-makers to exchange knowledge and experience on disability issues and to pave the way for improving the daily lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
The goal
With the motto “Inclusion: Transforming Global Rights into Action!” the Congress will gather high-level speakers, moderators and people with intellectual disabilities and their families from across the globe. It will focus on the new United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, addressing a wide range of important topics, such as the right to be included in society, the right to legal capacity and the fight against poverty.
Our goal will be to ensure that these new rights become reality for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
An inclusive community
The Congress will be very accessible for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Additionally, sessions will be translated into 4 languages: English, German, French and Spanish. An extended socio-cultural programme is also foreseen, which will allow participants many opportunities to meet others to strengthen friendships, share ideas and reflect on different experiences. Our aim is to make the Congress itself an inclusive community in which everyone is a valued member.
