Europe in Action 2012: Inclusive work opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities

PRESS RELEASE: Brussels, 21 March 2012

People with intellectual disabilities have a right to real jobs. Given the worrying impact of austerity policies on people with disabilities in Europe, the need to ensure their right to work is more pressing than ever.

Devoted to enhancing inclusive work opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, the 2012 ‘Europe in Action’ conference will take place from 31 May – 2 June in in Brussels.

The 2012 annual conference of Inclusion Europe promises a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences on improving access to the labour market. Self-advocates, family members, professionals, service-providers and decision-makers will discuss relevant policies and practices in four thematic strands:

  • Welfare and employment: the road to inclusive policies
  • Designing and implementing inclusive employment services
  • Training and support needs of people with intellectual disabilities
  • Examples of good practices

The event is organised in cooperation with ANAHM/NVHVG, a national organisation representing the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Belgium.

Simultaneous interpretation will be available in English, French and Dutch.
